O'Connell Street is Dublin's main Street in Dublin Ireland. It is one of Europe's widest streets. The O'Connell is the only bridge in Europe that is wider than it is long. The GPO located halfway up the street was the headquarters of the Irish provisional Government in the 1916 Rebellion.
The General Post Office (GPO), the headquarters of the Irish postal service today. During the 1916 Rising The General Post Office (GPO ) was one of three Dublin landmark building which destroyed. The Four Courts and the Custom House being the others, they were destroyed in the fighting. The GPO was rebuilt and reopened in 1929.
