Sir William 'Hamo' Thornycroft 1850-1925. 'Lot's Wife 1877-8.' In his subject matter and depiction of classical dress, Thornycroft was influenced by the painter and sculptor Frederic Leighton. Here he refers to the biblical story of Lot's wife who turned into a pillar of salt when she looked back at the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah.
