Mis Ida Briscoe, daughter of Robert Briscoe leaves for Rome


Robert Briscoe (25/09/1894 – 11/03/1969) known as Bob Briscoe was an Irish Fianna Fáil politician who served as a Teachta Dála (TD) in the Oireachtas (Irish parliament) from 1927 to 1965.
He was the first Jewish Mayor of Dublin serving in the 1950s and '60s. He joined the Irish Republican Army in 1917, ran guns and ammunition for the IRA, and later raised money to help bring Jews to Palestine.
