Conch Shell water vessel 1800-94 Conches are used to pour sanctified water in a number of Brahmanic ceremonies including the cutting of a prince or princess's top-knot to mark the reaching of puberty. They are also used during Thai marriage ceremonies where water is poured over the hands of the bride and groom. In ancient Indian Hinduism the conch was a symbol of sovereignty and power.
