Killing Birds of Paradise, New Guinea, 1908. The European hunter has a gun, while the native is proving himself proficient with his bow and arrow. The fashion in millinery which demanded ladies' hats be adorned with the feathers of these exotic birds led to some species being hunted to near extinction. From 'Le Petit Journal', (Paris, 8 November 1908).
