Spinaro (Thorn-Puller). Rome, first century BC. A naked youth pulls a thorn from his foot. The Roman bronze draws on a Hellenistic genre statue of a thorn-puller for the body and an early classical statue for the handsome and carefully coiffured boy's head. Known in Rome since the twelfth century.
