(R48)..1987..13.01.1987..01.13.1987..13th January 1987..Following a masked incursion into Clontibret, Co Monaghan,Ulster politician Peter Robinson and two others were charged by the police. The incursion was to highlight Unionist opposition to the Anglo Irish Agreement. As a result Mr Robinson faced the Special Criminal Court In Dublin. Mr Robinson was convicted for unlawful assembly and fined £17,500. Charges relating to assault on Gardai and malicious damages were dropped. Afterwards Mr Robinson said that he was thankful to the court for not imposing a custodial sentence...Picture shows special branch detectives taking up position outside the Special Criminal Court.
