(R67)..1987..04.11.1987..11.04.1987..4th November 1987..Today saw the first national auction of Christmas trees. the auction was held in the Green Isle Hotel,Dublin under the auspices of the Department of Forestry. The department was represented by the Minister, Mr Michael Smith TD. Over 100 people attended the auction of 100,000 trees from the state forests...Image shows Mr Michael O'Brien, Forest Service; Mr Michael Smith, Minister for Forestry; Mr Michael Hackett, Forest Service and Mr Alexis Fitzgerald, Auctioneer, conducting the auction.
