Relief showing an Attempt on the Buddha's Life 100-200. The lower scene shows the story of Shrigupta, a fanatical follower of an anti-Buddhist teacher. Shrigupta invited the Buddha to a poisoned meal and dug a hidden pit with burning coals in front of his house. Lotuses covered the pit and the Buddha walked safely across.
