President John F. Kennedy makes history in Ireland when for the first time a visitor addressed both houses of the Oireachtas (Parliament) in Dublin. It was also the first time that news photographs were allowed to be taken during a sitting of the houses. Members of the Goverenment led by Taoiseach Seán Lemass are seated on the left hand side of the house. The oppsition benches are on the right.
