Terra sigillata tray and a fragment from a similar vessel. The finest pottery, Late Roman period, was made of a fine-grained red slip ware, known as terra sigillata, This tableware is decorated by stamping. The large tray has a depiction of St Peter and St Paul enthroned, Jonah and the whale and fishes, symbolising Christ on the rim. Restored. North African workshop, late 4th century.
