Russian (Soviet) Trade Group visit Bolands Biscuit Factory, Deansgrange, Dublin. The Soviet group included: Mr S.I. Brovkin, Deputy Minister, Ministry of Food, U.S.S.R.; Mr V.I. Churiov, Moscow Interpreter; Mrs A.E. Glouv, Director of Department, Ukrainian Baking Industry; Mrs M.N. Isthmina, Director, All Union Institute Baking Industry and Mr N.V. Karyshensky, Deputy Chief Engineer, Bolshevik Biscuit Co., accompanied by Mr F.H. Arscott, Deputy Managing Director, Baker Perkins (Exports) Ltd. and Mr. Sloan (British Interpreter). The tour had been arranged by Baker Perkins Ltd. of Peterborough who made much of the machinery in Bollards Factory. The visit was connected with the latest Soviet Five-Year Plan, which intended to make a variety of foods available to the Russian consumer.
