Gold ring, the bezel set with a crystal engraved with a shield of arms opening on a hinge showing a compass and dial. Gold gabled Jewish marriage-ring. The inside of the hoop has a smooth plain surface except for the undisguised seam where the two ends join and slightly overlap. On the exterior the central broad zone is bordered on either side by a narrow band of cable ornament comprising a larger and more complex double twisted wire cable placed between a rope of simple single twisted wire. The central broad zone is occupied by five projecting openwork bosses of filigree work with applied pellets of gold in the manner of granulation. German or Italian 16th century
