Lucien Bonaparte (1775-1840) prince of Canino, younger brother of Napoleon Bonaparte. Having criticised his brother's policy against Rome, he felt it wise to leave Roman territory. In 1810 he set out for America but was captured by the English and held until 1814, when he returned to Italy. Lithograph c1830.
