SS Great Britain c1843. Designed by Sambaed Kingdom Brunel (1806-1859), she was built for the transatlantic passenger trade. In the event, she made most of her voyages on the Australian run. Launched on 19 July 1843, she was the first ocean-going vessel with a screw propeller and an iron hull. This shows her in her original state with six masts.
