John O'Grady Rescued By Gardai. (R67)..1987..05.11.1987..11.05.1987..5th November 1987..After being kidnapped from his home in Cabinteely, Co Dublin, John O'Grady was finally rescued after twenty one days in captivity. he was located in a house inCarnlough Road, Cabra West, Dublin. During his ordeal Mr O"Grady was mutilated by the kidnappers led by Dessie O'Hare to apply pressure on his family to pay the ransom sought. In an ensuing gun battle with the kidnappers a detective garda was shot and seriously wounded. In the chaos that followed the kidnappers escaped and were not all captured for a further three weeks after a massive manhunt...Picture shows a van which had been hijacked by the kidnappers being towed away by the Garda Technical squad for forensic examination.
